UPDATE (8:45 a.m.): Police have charged 23-year-old Jyvel R. Coleman, of South Hill, Va., with reckless driving in a fatal crash that occurred on Route 288 South in Chesterfield County Wednesday morning.
Jyvel was driving a 1995 GMC logging truck that ran off the left side of the roadway and overturned in the travel lanes. The tractor-trailer was then struck by a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe and a 2002 Buick Century. Though all drivers were wearing their seatbelts, the driver of the Tahoe died at the scene.
UPDATE (6:37 a.m.): Route 288 South is now open to traffic.
CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC)—All lanes of Route 288 South in Chesterfield County are closed south of Chester Road due to a deadly vehicle crash that occurred early Wednesday morning.
Virginia State Police responded to the scene of an accident involving a tractor-trailer and two motor vehicles around 12:12 a.m. on Oct. 16. The tractor-trailer was transporting logs, which were strewn across the highway.
The driver of one of the vehicles died at the scene. No other injuries are reported at this time.
According to VDOT, crews are working to get the lanes reopened by 6:30 a.m.
