RICHMOND - A large reward is offered for information about a "mystery" on Interstate 95 when something smashed through the window of a car and sent two people to the hospital.
Police say they were driving on I-95 when what is being called a projectile busted the window and left Thomas Doyle, the driver of the truck, badly injured.
Police say his wife, Betty Doyle grabbed the steering wheel and was able to steer the truck to safety.
Police are still investigating what happened, but say no evidence points to a gunshot.
Now family and friends are hoping a $10,000 reward will generate some tips.
Sue Harrigan, a friend of the Doyles, says she hopes the reward will encourage someone to come forward.
"I just think it may stimulate some clues as to what actually happened on the night of the accident," she says. "We really feel that there may have been people in the area the night of the accident that might have some clues, everybody wants to know what happened and get some clues so we thing it might help.
Harrigan says the Doyles are recovering, and they are doing as well as can be expected. But they both have very serious injuries, and recovery is their most important goal.
"Our primary focus is that they get better."
