MULLED SPICED ORANGECIDER
about 4 to 6 servings
In a large heavy saucepan, combine apple cider, orange juice, brown sugar, and salt, blending well. Tie spices in cheesecloth with kitchen twine; add spice bag to cider mixture. Bring mixture to a boil over moderate heat; reduce heat slightly, cover, and simmer for 15 to 20 minutes. Remove spice bag.
Serve hot in mugs or may chill in a glass container, tightly covered, until ready to serve chilled. Add a cinnamon stick to each serving as a stirrer. May also garnish each serving with an orange slice or half slice, if desired
Adult Spiced Cider Variation: Use 1¾ cups each orange juice and apple cider and ½ to 1 cup apple jack brandy or bourbon or dark rum.
May decrease amount of brown sugar, if desired.
