Voter Turnout Steady, Minor Glitches at Polls

Posted: Updated:

CHESTERFIELD/RICHMOND (WRIC) - For the most part, voter turnout has been steady, and there have been only a few minor glitches at the polls.

Bon Air Community Center is one of 74 precincts in Chesterfield County with more than 3,100 people registered to vote at this location.

By 2 p.m., more than 1,100 people had already cast their vote.

"It was fine. Peaceful. Quiet," says Chesterfield County Voter Caroline Hall. "Not a lot of people."

Larry Haake with the Chesterfield County Registrar says there have been a few minor glitches throughout the day, causing a few machines to swapped out at the polls.

"We've had some ballot boxes that didn't act right and we had to swap them out, but it's been pretty typical. Maybe a dozen or so issues."

There were also a few glitches at some polling locations in the city of Richmond.

"The machines weren't working, and we had to use paper ballots."

Those issues were corrected in a matter of minutes.
