OAKLAND, Calif. (WRIC)—A California dad is pleading with his son's school to
give the 7-year-old boy medical marijuana, so that he can stay in school.
Jayden David has Gervais Syndrome, which causes him to have epileptic
seizures; medical marijuana has been able to control them. The boy's father,
Jeff David, calls the weed the closest thing to a cure, but says his son's
school has stopped cooperating.
"We can no longer assist the child with dispensing medication during the day
at school," said Debra Hendricks, the superintendent of the Sylvan Union School
"To me, it's inhumane," David said, "It's inhumane not to give a child something
that is saving their life."
For now, David has to pick up his son during lunch and take him at least 1,000
feet away from the school before giving him the medical marijuana.
