RICHMOND (WRIC) - The new Huguenot Bridge has been open since May, but there was supposed to be a dedication ceremony last week.
That event was postponed because someone stole the sign. It was found the next day nearby.
The official ceremony happened Wednesday afternoon.
This memorial now sits under the new Huguenot Bridge. It's actually a piece of the railing from the old bridge with the original sign. It bridges the gap between the old and the new.
"It feels great, it brings conclusion to three years of success," says Michael Saunders, VDOT Project Manager for the bridge. "This was a long time coming. There was a lot of pressure put on us to deliver this job successfully."
Construction on the new Huguenot Bridge wrapped up three months ahead of schedule.
