Burger King Under Fire for Shocking Billboard

Posted: Updated:

EPHRATA, Wash. (WRIC)—Burger King is apologizing for a message displayed on a billboard at one of its Washington state locations.

The billboard reads, "Now Hiring. Must Be Mexican," and a photo of the sign has gone viral. The fast food giant claims the message was put up by a disgruntled employee who worked at the location last summer.

Burger King apologized on its Facebook page, saying, "The sign in question was posted briefly last summer, without approval at a franchise-owned and operated restaurant. Please know the franchisee has informed us that the employee who posted and photographed the sign was immediately terminated as a result. The Burger King team is dedicated to diversity and inclusion."
