Area Stores Starting Black Friday Deals on Thanksgiving

Posted: Updated:

RICHMOND (WRIC) – Lots of stores around the area are already gearing up for Black Friday.

This big ticket items this year, like most years, are electronics - specifically televisions. Store managers say they are getting their employees ready for the crowds.

Chris Jennison is the manager of the Best Buy in Short Pump, where you can find sales like iPad2's for $300 and 55 inch TVs for $500.

"We've got some great deals on televisions, cameras, laptops, iPods, different things like that. We'll start ticketing about 4 p.m. on Thanksgiving night and then start letting people in and start shopping away

Jennison expects Black Friday bargain hunters to start lining up early.

"I probably would expect them as early as tomorrow afternoon, tomorrow night. All through Thanksgiving so it's going to be exciting."

Down the street at Wal-Mart in Short Pump, manager Harold Walker has been working with employees closely to make sure they're ready for the crowds.

"The other thing we're doing is capacity protocol training which provides our sales and associates some insight as to when we may have to monitor the amount of people that are actually in the building.

And some shoppers already out doing their research before the big day.

"I think it's worth it," says Traci Rees. "If you get a really good deal, then it's worth it."

"It's hectic, actually, but hopefully, I don't have many things to buy so it will be okay," says Michael Hagopian.

A lot of stores will be opening their doors Thursday evening.

Wal-Mart and Best Buy will be opening at 6 p.m. Thanksgiving night. Target stores will open at 8 p.m. that night.

Chesterfield Towne Center will open for pre-Black Friday shopping Thanksgiving night at 8 p.m. Many stores will open at 8 p.m. and most all other stores will open by midnight and remain open until 10 p.m. Friday night.

Short Pump Town Center will be closed on Thanksgiving Day and open at 8 a.m. on Black Friday

Regency Square Mall will open Thanksgiving night at 8 p.m. as will Virginia Center Commons.
