HANOVER (WRIC) – A neighborhood is on edge after suspicious activity from a person going door to door that even made some kids feel uncomfortable.
The incident happened on Gibbsdown Place in the Pole Green subdivision over the last few days.
The Hanover County Sheriff's Office is investigating an incident where an apparent sales person offered a boy a cheesecake in exchange for signing for a neighbor's package.
Other kids that know the boy say it's a weird request.
"He was pretty freaked out about it," says neighbor Austin Diroux. "He thought it was pretty creepy that someone would come up to his parents and ask him something like that."
Martin rose says he was approached by the same person.
He asked me if I wanted Chinese food," he says. "I told him no. I felt a little scared so I told him to get away."
The sheriff's office doesn't believe the person was trying to abduct anyone or even did anything wrong.
But word of the incident has spread and has kept neighbors on edge.
"I felt scared for everyone because you don't know that person and they're coming up to random kids and stuff."
In addition, there were reports of a black van in the area, but that's been determined to be owned by someone visiting a home.
Deputies want neighbors to stay on the lookout - especially during the holidays.
