FREDERICKSBURG, Va. (WRIC)—A 23-year-old man who was charged with felony child abuse in Fredericksburg last week reported that he had been shot in the head with a BB gun the previous weekend.

William Schmuhl told Fredericksburg Police that he was walking from the Dunning Mills Inn to the Sunoco gas station at 2307 Jefferson Davis Highway around 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec., 14 when he was approached by a man, who shot him with a BB gun. Schmuhl was struck three times in the head and face, and was treated at Mary Washington Hospital.

The victim and suspect knew each other; the victim was living with the suspect's former girlfriend at the Dunning Mills Inn. Christopher Williams, 22, of Fredericksburg, was arrested for aggravated malicious wounding and incarcerated at the Rappahannock Regional Jail under no bond.

Schmul was charged with felony child abuse last week after his girlfriend's 4-month-old son ended up in the hospital with fractured ribs and other injuries. He is also incarcerated at the Rappahannock Regional Jail under no bond.
