HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC)—A Mechanicsville man has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with a homicide that took place at his home on Christmas morning.
Around 8 a.m. on Dec. 25, the Hanover County Sheriff's Office responded to a residence on the 8000 block of Peaks Road for a report that a person was unresponsive. Officers found 49-year-old George A. Teal, of the 8400 block of Lincoln Road in Mechanicsville, lying on the ground and suffering from apparent trauma.
Teal was taken to Memorial Regional Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. He was later transferred to VCU Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Keith M. Wood, 53, has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with Teal's death and is being held without bond at Pamunkey Regional Jail.
No other suspects are being sought, but anyone with information about the incident is still urged to contact the Hanover County Sheriff's Office at 804-365-6140 or Crime Stoppers at 804-780-1000.
The case remains under investigation.
