Homicide Suspect with Richmond Connection in Custody

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. (WRIC)—Four suspects in a Fredericksburg homicide that occurred last month  are all in custody.

Early in the morning on Sunday, Nov. 24, Rodney Beanum Jr., 28, was shot dead on the 1900 block of Howard Avenue.

Wesley Carlton Smith, 22, was arrested in Stafford County on Wednesday, Dec. 18 in connection with the homicide. With the help of the U.S. Marshals Service, Lorenzo McKinley Jones, 19, was arrested in Richmond on Thursday, Dec. 19. Diontae Washington, 22, turned himself in to Richmond authorities on Saturday, Dec. 21.

The fourth suspect, 23-year-old John Edwin Pegram, was picked up by the U.S. Marshals near Richmond Friday afternoon and he is being transported here to speak to our detectives.

Jones, Pegram, Smith and Washington all face charges of first-degree murder and robbery.
