RICHMOND (WRIC) - Thousands are still waiting on Christmas package deliveries across the area.
8News got phone calls, emails and comments on our Facebook page from many of you who failed to get Christmas deliveries on time in the Richmond area. Some said packages were delivered to the wrong address and some blamed the delivery companies while others blamed retailers. People also blamed customers for waiting too long to order their gifts.
But across the country many customers were left frustrated when their gifts did not arrive on time and experts say it could have a big effect on whether they decide to take advantage of online deals next year.
"If they're not getting that gift delivered on time for Christmas, disappointing relatives and family, clearly that could have a significant impact on their psychology around what they do next year," says Chetan Ghai of ShopperTrak.
UPS sent this statement:
"UPS apologizes to both shipping and receiving customers who may have delays. We had additional sorting operations at Worldport, the UPS international air hub in Louisville, KY, on Christmas and are making deliveries and pickups today. Customers should continue to access UPS.com for the most updated information."
While some companies like Amazon have offered to refund shipping costs to all late packages, UPS and FedEx have not said whether they plan to deliver any similar promises to their customers.
