NELSON COUNTY, Va. (WRIC)—Randy Taylor, who was originally charged with the abduction of missing 17-year-old Alexis Murphy, has been indicted on first-degree murder charges.
A special grand jury met last week to discuss the charges, which include first-degree murder and abduction with intent to defile.
Prosecutors announced the murder charge at a news conference Monday morning. They did not elaborate about what evidence prompted the upgraded charges.
Murphy was last seen leaving a Liberty gas station on Aug. 3, 2013. At this time, her body has not been found.
A hearing is expected in the case Monday afternoon. Stay with ABC 8 News on air, online and on the go for updates.
