GLEN ALLEN, Va. (WRIC)—Glen Allen High School was on lockdown for about two hours Tuesday afternoon due to reports of a distraught student with a weapon.

According to the Henrico County Police Division, police and school administrators were notified that a distraught male student possibly had a weapon in his possession. Though he was not seen on the school's campus, Glen Allen High was placed on lockdown as a precaution.

Lieutenant Linda Toney said in an email, "There is no evidence of shots fired or a gun on campus, and no injuries have been reported. The school remains on lock down as police search the school complex to insure everyone is safe."

The student in question has been taken into custody; his identity is not being released at this time.

Dozens of worried parents stood out in the cold at the nearby Shoppes at CrossRidge trying to get some answers as Henrico County police officers were out there answering questions and updating parents.

Laura Biltz says she was at work when she got a call about the lockdown and immediately imagined the worst.

She was later able to get a hold of her 16-year-old daughter, who was inside a classroom when the swat team came in. She told her mom she was terrified.

"Well I cried," Biltz says. "You know you want to stay calm for your child but you can't put into words how you feel."

Several parents said although they were scared, they felt better knowing that police were at the school.

And of course not too long after that, the lockdown was lifted and they were able to go pick up their kids from the school if they wanted.
