RICHMOND (WRIC) – After only three wins, the Washington Redskins have a new coach and fans are getting excited again.
The country got one of their first glimpses of Jay Gruden on this past season of HBO's "Hard Knocks" when the show featured Cincinnati.
Now he's on his way to the nation's capital and many redskins fans are optimistic.
"[I'm] excited about change but interested to see how it plays out with the same personnel and management structures," says fan Matt Carter.
Some fans watched the news unfold at Big Al's Sports Bar and Grill and even the sports talk show guy himself said he's anxious to see how the decision works out.
"I'm looking forward to next season already and the fact that the Skins do have a new coach and system and that they will be a better team next year and win more games," says "Big" Al Coleman.
A lot of fans want to know how the offensive-minded Gruden will get along with RGIII.
"I think they needed something to better the relationship between RG and his coach," says fan Jerry Natale. "Jay has a history of working with good QBs so it seems like to me it might be a good move."
The intrigue could create more interest in training camp, which will once again be in Richmond. Fans will have a chance to see a new look team before the 2014 season even starts.
"It'll be interesting to see what the changes are and get out there and see some new faces."
