PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. (WRIC)—It's no secret that vehicles left running to warm up in the cold weather are an easy target for car thieves. For drivers in one Maryland county, leaving cars out in the cold will cost them.

According to the Washington Post, the Prince George's County Police Department reported that four cars were stolen from owners who left their cars running on Tuesday morning; another four cars had been stolen the same way just the week before.

Now, in an effort to curb such car theft, unattended running vehicles in Prince George's County will be hit with a $70 fine.

Police say that even cars with a remote starting feature are still at risk.
