AMELIA COUNTY, Va. (WRIC)—The parents of a 10-year-old Amelia County boy who accidentally shot his 11-year-old brother in the face last fall pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge in connection with the incident.

On Wednesday, Oct. 9, the Amelia County Sheriff's Office was called to a residence in the Mannboro area, where they found two boys with a gun, the older sibling suffering from a gunshot wound to the face. The victim was treated at VCU Medical Center and survived the injury.

In mid-October the children's parents, Patrick and Joanna Callaway, were served with felony warrants for child endangerment. They have now been found guilty of failing to secure a firearm and must pay a $100 fine.

The 10-year-old had been charged with reckless handling of a gun, and is also in court Monday.
