HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC)—Parts of Patterson Avenue are flooded as a result of a water main break that occurred around 6:30 Monday morning.

The break is near the intersection of Patterson and Hillside avenues, east of Forest Avenue and west of Three Chopt Road.

Though crews were on scene throughout the morning to handle the situation, no major traffic problems were reported as a result of the break. According to the Henrico County Department of Public Utilities, the westbound lanes of Patterson Avenue will be closed for much of the day Monday to finish repairs. Traffic will be detoured through the area, and drivers are advised to use caution.

Some area residents told ABC 8 News that they have lost running water in their homes due to the incident. HCDPU says water service to 21 customers will be shut off while repairs are being made.

A second water main break in the region closed George Washington Carver Elementary School in Richmond on Monday.
