RICHMOND (WRIC) - Even though the snow has stopped falling, it's still quite a mess in Richmond.
8News anchor Katelyn Sherwood stopped by a local hardware store where people were grabbing ice melt and shovels.
At Pleasant's Hardware in Richmond, ice melt is definitely the hot ticket item. Horace Anderson bought six bags for his church's parking lot.
"It's kind of
powdery but I know it's going to freeze over tonight," he says.
Store manager Clay Butler says they got a new shipment of ice melt in yesterday and within minutes it was gone.
"Everyone knows this stuff is just going to refreeze for the next couple of days and that's what people are concerned with," he says. "Once people found out we had it, it went pretty quick. It was kind of a feeding frenzy as it was going out of here."
Scrapers and shovels also went fast. William and Lindsay McFeely were more about having fun than cleaning up and picked up some sleds before heading to Maymont.
"We used to ride on flexible flyers when we were growing up and this the brand so we figured they're extra durable," William says.
And with two snow storms back to back, business has been good for the local shop.
"This time of year is typically our slower time of year and so it's definitely helped business with the sleds, the shovels and the ice melt."
