Snow to Melt Thursday, Despite Arctic Morning Temps

Posted: Updated:

RICHMOND (WRIC)—The Southern snowstorm that extended into Central Virginia this week may be over, but the frigid temperatures will stick around for just awhile longer.

Skies will be sunny across the region on Thursday, and our high temperatures will climb into the lower 30s. Much of the sun's energy will go into melting the snow, so look for the accumulation to decrease greatly. It will be clear Thursday night and still cold, with lows in the middle to upper teens.

Mostly sunny skies will be over the region on Friday, and with the snow pack going down, our temperatures will go up to the lower 40s.

Saturday will feature partly sunny skies as a weather system begins to move in from the west. We should top out near 50 degrees on Saturday.

Mainly cloudy skies with light rain showers will be around for Sunday, and high temperatures will be in the lower to middle 50s. That weather system will pull through on Monday, so we will still be left with some clouds and a chance of showers.

Another weather system will come at us for Tuesday into Wednesday. This system could begin as a light wintry mix on Tuesday before rain takes over in the afternoon; that rain will continue through Wednesday.
