RICHMOND (WRIC)—Though a shifting weather system means the ABC 8 News viewing area will escape the snow and wintry mix that was expected to hit on Monday, the region will instead experience rain showers throughout the day.
Rain will be pushing in Monday morning ahead of a cold front that is draped to our north and west. This system will bring us some very steady rain through the afternoon. Our temperatures will fall into the upper 30s by the evening as the rain comes to an end. Our skies will be mostly cloudy Monday evening and then partly cloudy in the overnight, with lows in the upper 20s.
Tuesday will feature some early sunshine, followed by clouds later in the afternoon and evening. Showers will develop Tuesday night and last into Wednesday, as a system passes to our north and west. This system will push another surge of warmer air in the region. It is possible that by Wednesday we could have highs in the lower to middle 60s.
Behind that system, partly sunny skies will return with highs in the middle 40s. As we head into the weekend, the weather will become very unsettled, as a couple of weather systems make a run into the mid-Atlantic in various stages. Friday will feature clouds and a few rain showers, with highs in the lower 40s.
More light rain is likely on Saturday, with highs in the middle 40s. Then some of our weather models want to develop a pretty good snowstorm for the region for Sunday, but there are so many questions as we approach the weekend; in a pattern like this, it is wise to go slow and see how it develops, rather than pin the forecast on one model.
