Freezing Rain Advisory for Central Virginia Area

Posted: Updated:

RICHMOND (WRIC)—Rain is on tap for the area Tuesday night with the possibility of some freezing rain north of I-64 and west of US-52.  A freezing rain advisory is in effect for locations north of I-64 and west of US-15.

Overnight lows will fall into the lower to middle 30s overnight, but from Richmond to the southeast we will see temperatures start to rise after midnight.  Showers will be on tap for Wednesday through at least midday in the area.  It will get warmer with highs in the upper 40s and lower 50s to our far west, and locations near the bay zooming into the lower to middle 60s.

Thursday and Friday are quieter with partly to mostly sunny skies on tap for us. One little disturbance will pass well to out south on Friday with a few sprinkles in North Carolina, but it looks like nothing will affect us in the area.  As far as highs are concerned, we will see them in the 40s.

For the weekend, the weather pattern is very unsettled with absolutely no agreement amongst the computer models, yet alone day to day consistency in what each model says.  One model suggests a storm similar to 2 weeks ago when we waited forever for the snow to start.  Other have a system to our south that scoots northeast off the coastline.  We will see some light rain on Saturday and potentially a wet rain/snow mix on Sunday. Even the "snowiest" of the models suggests no more than we have seen in the previous 2 storms.  We will see how it all plays out.
