RICHMOND (WRIC)—A man was assaulted during a robbery early Friday morning on Virginia Commonwealth University's Monroe Park Campus.
At 12:25 a.m. on Feb. 7, a robbery was reported to both the VCU and Richmond Police Departments as having occurred at 835 W. Grace St., the West Grace South residence hall.
Three male suspects approached the victim an alley entrance nearby on the 300 block of Shafer Street. One suspect told the victim to "give up his stuff" and punched him before taking his backpack, wallet and cellphone. The victim was not seriously injured.
The suspects all fled south on Shafer Street, and no weapons were displayed.
The first suspect is described as a black male between 5 feet 8 inches and 6 feet tall; he wore a blue baseball cap, gray sweatshirt and black pants. The second suspect is described as a black male who is also approximately 5 feet 8 inches to 6 feet tall; he wore all black clothing. The third suspect is a white or light-skinned male who is 5 feet 8 inches to 6 feet tall; he wore a camouflage jacket and dark pants.
According to VCU Police, these men may pose a threat to members of the VCU community. Officers have increased patrols in the area, and the Richmond Police Department is investigating the incident.
