HOPEWELL, Va. (WRIC)—A Hopewell man was arrested just hours after robbing a woman in their own home and threatening her with a gun on Friday.
At 8:20 a.m. on Feb. 7, a man confronted a female victim with a handgun at their residence on the 500 block of Manchester Court. He stole multiple items, including electronic equipment, then fled on foot.
The victim, who police say was not chosen at random, jumped from a window to escape and injured her ankle.
A few hours later, at 1:20 p.m., 22-year-old Hashaad Austin of Hopewell was arrested and charged with Armed Robbery, Use of Firearm in Commission of a Felony, Brandishing a Firearm and Grand Larceny.
Austin is being held at Riverside Regional Jail without bond.
