Possible Snow Showers on Valentine’s Night

Posted: Updated:

RICHMOND (WRIC)—Nearly the entire Commonwealth was hit with heavy snow Wednesday and Thursday; some areas saw more than two feet of accumulation. Here in Central Virginia, the ABC 8 News StormTracker weather team says we can expect to see just a few more snow showers Friday night.

Sunny skies will be across the region Friday and it will be seasonably cool, with highs in the middle 40s. A few clouds will begin to roll in later Friday afternoon, as a weather system approaches from the Ohio Valley. That system will give us more clouds tonight, and we will see a few snow showers or rain showers after midnight. We do not expect any significant accumulation, as this will be a very weak system.

Any lingering rain or snow showers on Saturday morning will give way to partly sunny skies in the afternoon, with highs around 40 degrees. Mostly sunny skies will be across the region on Sunday and it will be chilly, with highs around 40 degrees.

Monday will start the warming trend that will continue for much of next week, as we will see highs in the middle to upper 40s under mostly sunny skies. Clouds and rain showers are possible Tuesday, with highs in the middle 50s. Partly sunny skies will be around for Wednesday and Thursday, and if most of our snowpack is gone, we will climb into the middle 60s, but if the snow is still around, we will only be in the lower 50s.
