RICHMOND (WRIC) - A Valentine's tradition
continues at McGuire VA Medical Center that shows veterans how much they're
loved and appreciated.
One by one, staff members and volunteers make special deliveries to patient rooms.
Like Vietnam veteran Ed Jacobson, they all have stories to tell of past service and present health issues, but this day is all about love.
"I think it's wonderful because I have the best love there is. She's sitting right there, my lovely wife who lets me flirt with other women and doesn't have a fit about it."
Jacobson definitely has a sense of humor and these balloon bouquets only help to spread more good cheer and well wishes for a speedy recovery.
"Now I filled out a little bit, got my strength back and I feel so much better and I really appreciate the veterans services and everything they've done."
all the veterans received balloons, it was an extra special day for Jacobson.
He was finally discharged and is now on his way back home to Massachusetts.
