RICHMOND (WRIC)—Compared to the heavy snow, sleet and freezing rain that pounded Central Virginia last week, the ABC 8 News StormTracker weather team is predicting "quiet weather" with a warming trend this week.
Sunny skies will be over the region on Monday and it will be seasonably chilly, with highs in the lower 40s. Clouds will roll in Monday night ahead of our next weather system, which will bring us some light rain showers by early Tuesday morning.
Temperatures will be below freezing in a few areas north of Richmond early Tuesday morning, so a brief mix of sleet and freezing rain cannot be ruled out in those areas. Showers will come to an end by 10 a.m., and the sunshine will return for the second half of the day. High temperatures on Tuesday will climb into the middle and upper 50s.
A very weak weather system will pass over the region on Wednesday, bringing us a few extra clouds and maybe a brief shower, but it will be mild, with highs in the lower 60s. Partly sunny skies will be over the region on Thursday and it will be very mild, with highs in the middle to upper 60s.
Another weather system will approach the region on Friday and ahead of it our temperatures will push into the upper 60s to near 70 degrees, but clouds and showers will move in for the afternoon.
Looking ahead to the weekend, sunny skies will be around for both Saturday and Sunday, with highs in the 50s.
