HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC)—On Saturday afternoon, the Henrico County Police Division arrested two drunk women at a restaurant, one of whom allegedly strangled a 2-year-old inside the establishment.
Around 4:25 p.m. on Feb. 15, Henrico Police responded to the Applebee's at 9601 W. Broad St. in Glen Allen for a report of two intoxicated females. Officers observed Dawn Marie Ellyson attempting to leave the parking lot in a vehicle. Police stopped her and discovered she was driving impaired. Officers discovered pills inside Ellyson's car.
Cheryl Thomas Walton, an acquaintance of Ellyson's, and a two-year-old male relative of Ellyson's were also in the car. Police learned that Walton had assaulted the child while the trio was inside the restaurant. The boy was transported to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The child's father responded, and the boy was released from the hospital later that day.
Ellyson was charged with Child Endangerment, DUI 3rd in 5 Years, Drug Possession, Driving Outside of DUI Restrictions, and No Ignition Interlock.
Walton was charged with Strangulation, Assault and Battery, and Drunk in Public.
