CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC)—A video of a Chesterfield boy's reaction to hearing his parents' voices for the first time after getting hearing aids is going viral.
Dylan Lipton-Lesser was born with some medical issues that caused his hearing to get worse over time, but hearing aids changed his life.
At just two years old, he's had to overcome what some adults will never experience.
"He has a condition called hydrocephalus," said his mother, Shirley Lesser. "He actually has two pieces of plastic tubing in his head that help manage that condition and 15 brain surgeries."
Doctors aren't sure what happened, but Dylan started to lose his hearing, so they took him to get hearing aids. But what happened just seconds after doctors turned the hearing aids on was incredible.
The doctors didn't how Dylan would react, but no one expected how happy he'd be.
"He just started laughing the best most infectious belly laugh," Lesser said. "And he just wouldn't stop."
"Oh gosh, it was incredible," said Dylan's other mother, India Lipton. "It was just so awesome and just amazing and unexpected, and there was just so much joy."
Today, Dylan still has some developmental issues, but nothing is holding him back.
"He can feed himself," Lipton said. "He can solve puzzles, he plays the piano, so he's doing great, despite the poor prognosis."
More than 400,000 people have seen the video of Dylan's reaction, and his parents said they put it online to cheer someone up.
