RICHMOND (WRIC)—A Chesterfield County man has been arrested in connection with the theft of a Richmond Fire truck that was stolen earlier this month, and it's not his first involvement with the theft of an emergency services vehicle.

The mid-size fire truck was taken from a city-owned garage and maintenance facility on the 1600 block of Commerce Road sometime between 4 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 3 and 6 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 4.

The Richmond Police Department has charged 20-year-old Zachary Dalton Oakey, of North Chesterfield, with burglary and grand larceny in connection with the incident two weeks ago.

Oakey was also charged with breaking and entering and grand larceny in connection with a stolen ambulance in Henrico County in October, when he was just 19. He broke into the Tuckahoe Volunteer Rescue Squad building, stole an ambulance and was later arrested when public safety officials saw him driving the vehicle around. The case was sent to a grand jury in January.

RPD says the investigation into the stolen fire truck remains ongoing and that more arrests are possible.

Anyone with information pertaining to this incident is asked to contact Crime Stoppers of Metro Richmond at 804-780-1000.
