RICHMOND (WRIC)—Following scattered rain showers, thunder and lightning, the ABC 8 News StormTracker weather team is predicting "quiet weather" with a warming trend for the remainder of this week.
A weather system moving out of Tennessee and North Carolina this morning will bring us showers through the late morning. Most of the rain will be light, but you should drive a little slower during your morning commute. Occasional breaks of sun will develop during the afternoon, and temperatures will warm to the lower 60s. Our skies will become partly cloudy tonight and it will be cool, with lows in the upper 30s to near 40 degrees.
Thursday will feature partly sunny skies, with highs in the lower 60s. An approaching cold front on Friday will bring more clouds and very mild conditions, with highs near 70 degrees. As that cold front crosses the Commonwealth later in the morning through afternoon, rain and possibly thunderstorms will develop. There is a good chance that some of the rain will be locally heavy, and winds will kick up with some of the thunderstorms. That system will move east Friday night, and our skies will clear out for the weekend.
Saturday, Sunday and Monday will feature mostly sunny skies with highs near 60 degrees on Saturday, but falling into the lower 50s by Monday. Clouds will increase on Tuesday ahead of our next weather system for Wednesday. Our long-range weather models continue to hint at some sort of rain/wet snow system for Wednesday, but it is certainly not set in stone. We'll keep watching it for you.
