HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC)—The Hanover County Sheriff's Office is seeking the public's help in solving a nearly 10-year-old cold case that occurred on the 7400 block of Old Hickory Drive.

On Aug. 14, 2004, a deputy on routine patrol found 27-year-old Russell D. Franklin dead in the driver's seat of his 1995 light blue Cadillac. The car had run off the road and hit a privacy fence in a parking lot. Franklin, of the 7400 block of Sherwood Crossing Place in Mechanicsville, died of a single gunshot wound to the chest.

Police said Wednesday that investigators have developed new information, including two new leads, in the case and believe several individuals who may have crucial relevant information remain in the metro Richmond area.

Investigators are hoping to advance the case by re-evaluating all forensic evidence.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Hanover County Sheriff's Office at 804-365-6140 or Crime Stoppers of Metro Richmond at 804-780-1000.
