RICHMOND (WRIC)—Collectors from all over the world are in Richmond getting ready for one of the most unique estate sales Central Virginia has ever seen.
Andrew Piretti was a Sony executive and worked with some of the biggest recording artists in history.
He lived in his home at 1125 Grove Ave. for about 20 years, but recently passed away. The items inside are historic and on Thursday morning, they'll all go on sale.
Name a famous singer, and you'll likely find his or her autographed photo somewhere in Piretti's house.
Decades of music history line the walls from Journey to Mariah Carey, Pink Floyd to Barbra Streisand. Andrew Piretti collected all of it as a senior vice president for Sony music.
Even though he worked in New York, he kept his house in the Fan until he died last October.
Piretti's family has already gathered everything they want; now, the rest is up for sale.
Sal Anselmo cleaned Piretti's house for years.
"He had probably the most extensive paperweight collection I have ever seen," Anselmo said. "He collected throughout the world all kinds of paperweights."
Not only are there a lot of celebrity items, like an original Michael Jackson world tour jacket, there is also some very rare artwork, like a $50,000 piece by Martin Klein.
Everything in the house has to go by Sunday and some of it won't last long.
"We have people interested already and calling us from France, Saudi Arabia," said Michael Woods, the co-owner of Phoenix Estate Sales. "Something for everybody. There are things ranging from a dollar to $50,000."
The Michael Jackson jacket is expected to go for quite a bit, as is a painting of a Grammy party Piretti hosted back in 1998. There's also more than 2,000 CDs, many of which have never been opened, starting at $1.
The estate sale starts at 10 a.m. Thursday. There will likely be a long line, but everyone is invited.
