Suspect Evades Chesterfield Police in Stolen Vehicle
CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC)—A man is recovering in the hospital after attempting to evade police in a stolen car on Wednesday night.
Around 11:30 p.m. on Feb. 19, a Chesterfield Police officer attempted to stop a vehicle for speeding near Route 10/West Hundred Road and Mason Avenue. The car failed to pull over and a chase ensued. The pursuit ended in a crash at the intersection of Ruffin Mill Road and Ramblewood Drive.
The driver, who was the only person in the car, was taken to VCU Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Upon further investigation, Chesterfield Police learned the vehicle had been reported stolen in Indiana. The driver, 44-year-old Michael S. Siegfried of Indiana, has been charged with possession of a schedule I/II controlled substance, grand larceny, attempt to elude police, reckless driving and driving with a suspended license.
Siegfried remains in the hospital in stable condition.
