Cold, Windy Thursday Ahead

Posted: Updated:

RICHMOND (WRIC)—The ABC 8 News viewing area can expect a windy Thursday, frigid Friday and mild weekend ahead of possible rain and snow next week.

Mainly sunny skies will be over the region Thursday, but a weak weather system will slide through the region in the afternoon. Winds will kick up and it will turn much colder in the evening. High temperatures will climb into the upper 40s to near 50 degrees. It will be clear Thursday night; our winds will diminish and it will be very cold, with lows in the upper teens to near 20 degrees.

Friday will be a very cold day, with highs only in the middle 30s under mainly sunny skies. Clouds will increase Friday night and be with us for Saturday, as a weak weather system slides over the region. This will bring us a passing shower or two.

High temperatures on Saturday will climb into the lower 40s. Partly sunny skies will return to Central Virginia for Sunday and it will be seasonable, with highs in the middle 50s. Another weather system will move in Sunday night and Monday, but this looks warm enough to be rain.

High temperatures on Monday will reach the upper 40s to near 50 degrees. Tuesday and Wednesday will feature partly sunny skies and it will be colder, with highs in the upper 30s to near 40 degrees. Some of the long-range weather models are strongly hinting that winter is not done yet, as they show a coastal weather system for Wednesday night through Thursday. This is something to watch, for sure.
