RICHOND (WRIC) - After abruptly closing its doors back in September, Perly's Restaurant on East Grace Street is coming back.
Perly's shocked the City of Richmond when they put a closed sign on their front door. Until September, Perly's had been a popular stop for 50 years and loyal customers were upset to suddenly find the restaurant had closed its doors. In just a few months, owners will be taking that sign off the door to give Perly's a second chance.
The downtown property was recently purchased by Scott Coleman, a Richmond developer who was sad to see the iconic restaurant close its doors.
"I always thought it was one of those places that was always and never going to go away," he says.
Coleman says the restaurant will keep the same name but be modernized a bit with many classic breakfast and lunch items still available.
"I haven't seen the new menu yet, but I understand there's going to be a lot of the new items on the old menu," he says.
Coleman says the restaurant could be back open by May.
