RICHMOND (WRIC) - The icy roads have caused of plenty of accidents across the area, keeping police and tow truck drivers busy.
Up and down the highways and back roads throughout the area, cars and SUVs skidding, ending up in ditches or into barrier walls.
Anthony Purcell with Sunrise Towing says it's been a busy day of people driving too fast in slick conditions, saying he's seen plenty of cars skid off the road and into each other.
"Accidents are the worst ones because of that thin sheet of ice under the snow and driving too fast for the road conditions."
There have been so many calls that he's even had to turn some customers down who were stuck, looking for a tow.
"Feast or famine with the tow world, either you have too many trucks or you don't have enough."
Saying he's seen enough accidents, and has a bit of advice for drivers.
"They're everywhere. If you don't need to come out, don't come out."
If you have a question about a specific road as far as when it could be plowed you can get the information from VDOT.
