RICHMOND (WRIC)—The ABC 8News StormTracker weather team is closely monitoring a system developing in the Gulf of Mexico that will bring rain and sleet to Central Virginia early Friday morning.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for parts of the viewing areas west of I-95 for late tonight through mid-morning on Friday. We will have clouds over the area tonight with light sleet/freezing rain and maybe a few snow showers mixed in developing in the overnight hours.  Lows will be in the upper 20s and lower 30s.  Friday morning will start with a mix of sleet, freezing rain and rain, changing over to all rainfall by mid-morning.  Highs will warm into the upper 30s and lower 40s.   The storm system will exit the area later in the evening, allowing for clearing skies into the weekend.

Saturday and Sunday will be mostly sunny over us and milder.  Highs both days will be in the upper 50s and the lower 60s.  Remember that Daylight Saving Time start on Sunday so be sure to set your clock ahead an hour.   Early next week will be mild with highs possibly near 70 on Tuesday.  A weather system will approach from the west on Wednesday.  As it looks like cold air will be well to the north of us, this one should just be rainfall in the area.  Following that, colder air looks to be on tap for the end of next week.
