RICHMOND (WRIC)—As the VCU men's basketball team got ready to fly out to California to compete in the NCAA tournament, fans came out to wish them luck.
VCU fans ignored the rain to cheer, snap a few selfies with Coach Shaka Smart and send their team off.
"I'm supporting my hometown. I'm supporting my team," said fan Andrew Brown. "I hope they bring the Havoc all the way to the West Coast."
The VCU men's basketball team will be playing #12-seed Stephen F. Austin State University all the way in San Diego—a long way from home.
"I can't personally make it to San Diego, but I think we're going to have a good showing as well," said fan Daniel Kreutler. "They are going to see what the Rowdy Rams are capable of VCU is capable of."
"We just have to bring our A-game, give it 110 percent even more," said Paul Harper. "We are all going to lose our voice after the first game."
It was a sendoff from diehard fans that can't wait for the March madness to begin.
