OXON HILL, Md. (WRIC)—The District of Columbia Metropolitan Police Department has issued an AMBER Alert for an 8-year-old black girl who has been missing since last month. A woman’s body was discovered in a Maryland hotel Thursday morning during the search for the child.
Relisha Tenau Rudd was last seen on the 1900 block of Massachusetts Avenue in Southeast D.C. Police told ABC affiliate WJLA that Rudd was last seen at a shelter there on Wednesday, Feb. 26; she was picked up by someone her family knew, but was never returned.
While searching for the girl, the Prince George’s County Police Department discovered the body of an adult female at the Red Roof Inn Washington DC – Oxon Hill at 6170 Oxon Hill Road the morning of March 20. WJLA reports that D.C. Police advised Prince George’s County Police to check the motel because of a possible link to Rudd’s case, but it is unclear at this time if or how the deceased woman is connected to the missing child.
Rudd is 4 feet tall and weighs approximately 70 to 80 pounds. She has black hair, brown eyes and a medium complexion. Rudd may also be in need of medication.
Rudd may be traveling with Kahlil Malik Tatum and Rickie Sheridan Lyles in a white 1976 GMC truck with Maryland tags 305015.
Anyone with information about Rudd, Tatum or Lyles’ whereabouts is asked to call 911 or the MPD Command Information Center at 202-727-9099.
