Suspected abductor Kahlil Tatum has several tattoos on left forearm
WASHINGTON (WRIC)—As the search continues for a missing 8-year-old D.C. girl and the man suspected of taking her police have released new photos of the two and are now offering a $25,000 reward.
An intense search for Relisha Rudd has been underway for nearly a week since she was reported missing, but she has not been seen since late February.
Authorities believe she is with family friend Kahlil Tatum, who is also a janitor at the homeless shelter where the child was staying with her mother. The 51-year-old is also charged with murdering his wife, Andrea Denise Tatum. Her body was found in an Oxon Hill, Md. motel room late last week. Last Friday police in Prince George's County, Md. obtained a warrant charging him with murder.
Police released new pictures Monday showing Relisha playing. She is described as 4’0”, weighing 70 to 80 pounds, with black hair, brown eyes, and a medium complexion.
A new photo of Tatum show him dressed in a white, sleeveless T-shirt and having several tattoos on his left forearm. The Washington Post spoke with shelter residents who described the look as different, saying he often wore designer clothes and sometimes a suit and tie.
At a Monday press conference D-C Police Chief Cathy Lanier said authorities are following every tip to find the child. “We are still continuing to get information from anonymous leads from people who are not known to the family and from others who did know members of the family,” Lanier said.
The Post also reported that Lanier would not confirm if the search has been narrowed, but police in Richmond have said their officers were put on heightened alert. Police recently said they believe the two might be in the Richmond area.
The FBI is now offering a reward up to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest and indictment in the case.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Rudd or Tatum should call police.
