RICHMOND (WRIC) - Nearly 150 companies took part in the 2014 Virginia Food and Beverage Expo on March 26, showcasing traditional favorites, new gourmet trends and much more.

Among vendors at the expo were the ladies of Mango Mango who were featured on ABC’s hit show Shark Tank about six months ago where they presented their line of all-natural mango preserves.

"We've been busy, busy, busy, blessed, blessed, blessed," said Tanecia Willis, Shark Tank Contestant of Mango Mango.

While Mango Mango was not selected for a deal on the show Shark Tank, The Hampton-based company received 15,000 orders in the first 48 hours after their episode of Shark Tank aired on September 27. Even more orders rolled in when their episode re-aired in December.

Lakesha Brown Renfro, Mango Mango Shark Tank Contestant said of their company’s success: “Even though we didn’t get the deal it wasn’t the end for us, it’s just been the beginning.”

“We call it party in a jar because you can use it 100 ways,” Brown Renfro said. Since the Mango Mango debut on Shark Tank, Mango Mango all-natural mango preserves have been hitting stores’ shelves all across the United States. They are also shipped internationally.

The mango product is served on meats, in salads and so much more. Brown Renfro describes the product as a kind of “mango vinaigrette” that can be used on just about anything.

In spite of rapid company growth fueled by word-of-mouth and a Shark Tank featuring of the product, Mango Mango founders don’t forget where they came from and their Virginia roots that helped make their product so successful.

The product all started as a staple of the ladies’ catering business and then took off thanks to loyal clients, some television exposure and the Commonwealth that’s standing behind them.

"We're happy to be Virginia's finest,” Brown Renfro proudly shared.

Mango Mango is continuing to expand, their next step: finalizing distribution throughout Canada.
