36,000 people are registered for the 2014 Ukrop's Monument Avenue 10k Saturday.

On Friday, thousands lined up at the Arthur Ashe Athletic Center to pick up their gear for the big race.

"Big" may be an understatement: The 10,000 meter race is now fourth-largest 10k in the entire country.

"We're bigger than the Boston Marathon and the Marine Corps marathon. One of the 25 longest in the entire world. So that's pretty cool that that's Richmond," said Scott Schricker, event organizer with SportsBackers.

With 36,000 registered and many more set to watch the big race, the marathon is ideal for people of all ages. Cabell Rosanelli tries to run in it each year.

"I feel like every year it just kind of grows in popularity and notoriety. You see it written in up in a lot of magazines and websites. It's such a big draw. I'm excited to be a part of it," Rosanelli said.

The only potential hiccup right now is mother nature; forecasts are calling for cloudly skies most of the day. But the event will go on rain or shine.

"Sounds like it will be a little wet but because people are training for this for weeks, they don't want to miss all of the fun," Schricker said.
