RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) - The Richmond Police Department is investigating a triple shooting that left one man dead and two others injured in the city’s south side late Monday night.

Around 11:16 p.m. on March 31, Richmond Police were called to the 2000 block of Dinwiddie Avenue, south of Hull Street and east of Jefferson Davis Highway, for a report of a shooting. Officers arrived on scene to discover three victims who had all been shot.

Richmond Police has identified the victim as Kiarri K. Edwards, 34, of the 2900 block of Granite Hill Circle.

The two other victims, both males in their 20s, were transported to VCU Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Richmond Police are collecting evidence and canvassing the area for information.

“At this point, we don’t believe it was a random act,” said Gene Lepley, RPD’s director of media relations. “We believe the parties may have known each other.”

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Metro Richmond Crime Stoppers by calling 804-780-1000 or texting “iTip” followed by the tip to 274637.

“We’re hoping somebody saw something, even though it was at night,” Lepley said. “We hope to get some good information [so] that we can wrap this up quickly and make an arrest.”
