One person has been charged and three victims have been identified after a car and tractor-trailer collided Tuesday afternoon at the intersection of Route 155 and Kentland Trail in New Kent County.
Virginia State Police have identified the three people who died in the crash as Julio C. Gonzalez-Hernandez, 61, Javier D. Ferrer, 25 and Jose A Lopez-Velasquez, 26 all of North Chesterfield.
At approximately 12:31 p.m. on Tuesday, Police responded to a crash after the driver of a Toyota was attempting to cross over Route 155 from Kentland Trail and failed to yield the right of way to the driver of a tractor-trailer. At the time of the crash, the driver of the tractor trailer was traveling south on Route 155 and was unable to avoid striking the Toyota.
State police have identified the driver of the Toyota as Saul A. Gonzalez-Hernandez, 65. He has been charged with reckless driving. Gonzalez-Hernandez suffered serious, non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to VCU Medical Center.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured in the crash; alcohol and speed are not considered factors in wreck.
The wreck remains under investigation.
