HOPEWELL, Va (WRIC) - Rescue crews had to pull three men out of the James River Saturday night after fire crews say they got stuck.

Chesterfield County and Hopewell fire and EMS crews responded after getting a call that three people were stranded on jet skis.

At first they thought it would be a rescue mission, so they sent out a dive team as well as three boats to check on them. Crews later realized the men had some mechanical problems with their jet skis, but they were not injured. Each was wearing a life jacket.

"We realized there was no one injured, no one needing medical treatment. We downgraded and slowed down...and just brought them back into shore,” said Captain Joy Schools with the Chesterfield County Fire Department.
