LOOKING FOR A JOB? GOOGLE YOURSELF!
Have you ever "Googled" yourself? If you're looking for work, you should. Chances are your potential employer will Google your name and you never know what may pop. John Korusek from the Chesterfield Resource Workforce Center urges you to take control of your online profile.
"To control your online profile, look to set heavy privacy settings on your Facebook, Twitter, those kinds of things," John advises. "If you're searching for jobs, however, leave the privacy settings low on LinkedIn, so that LinkedIn will show up at the top of the list and you can use things like Reputation.com to control what they see on Google." If you need a boost in this area, the Henrico Resource Workforce Center is hosting a workshop called "Social Media & Employment" tomorrow, July 31.
