RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -
The Richmond Police Department is investigating a shooting in the city’s south side that put a man in the hospital early Friday morning.
At 12:24 a.m. on April 18, officers were called to the 3400 block of Walmsley Boulevard, east of Hopkins Road and west of Route 1/Jefferson Davis Highway, for a report of gunfire.
A short time later, Richmond Police received a second call for a report of a person shot in the area. Police arrived on scene to find a male suffering from a gunshot wound; he walked a short distance away from the crime scene before officers located him.
The victim, whose identity has not yet been released, was taken to VCU Medical Center. He was not severely wounded and is expected to recover. Detectives say they haven’t yet had a chance to speak with the victim.
RPD continues to investigate the shooting and are searching for the gunman.
