RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -
After last year's success, River City Segs is hosting the second "Segg Hunt," a three-day Easter egg hunt in Richmond."We've basically collected free stuff from companies around the city and then we hide them in eggs all around the city and then we're using our facebook and twitter accounts to give clues," said Jeff Majer with River City Segs.
About 25 businesses are taking part---donating $3,000 worth of prizes.
"Free segway tours from River City Segs obviously, Richmond Trolly Company free trolly tours, City Dogs gift certificates, Agecroft Hall, gift certificates from Lucy Restaurant, or Real Richmond food tours, Shockoe Demin gift certificates," said Majer.
"Really amazing stuff, you know $50 or $60 things you can find on the street," said Majer.
Inside each is a voucher with a prize. One of them could be from Plan 9 Records in Carytown .
"Seemed like a fun project to get involved in, we gave them a few prizes some RVA shirts and hats and things, gift certificates. let people know we carry some of that merchandise...in case we get some new customers out of it as well," said owner of Plan 9 Jim Bland.
Majer says that's one of the main goals of the "Segg Hunt."
"you know, we're really just trying to get people out to experience the city. experience different businesses, especially local businesses. a lot of us work pretty dang hard to make the city better, and trying to have a little fun with it."
The " Easter Segg Hunt" lasts through Easter weekend." Majer says they'll start posting clues Saturday around 10 a.m.
